Image
The injury list isn't as long for the Colorado Avalanche, but long enough to potentially make a serious impact. Bowen Byram The star defenseman missed the last two games due to an illness. However, he did skate earlier this morning at Family Sports Center as he makes progress towards a full recovery. Cale Makar The superstar has been plagued by injuries for the last few months, but a lower-body injury has kept him on the bench for the past four games. Initially prescribed as "no timeline for return," Makar's status has since been downgraded to day-to-day, which is great news for a team destined to make a deep playoff run. Artturi Lehkonen Lehkonen is recovering the broken thumb he suffered against the Montreal Canadiens. Per sources reporting to the Avalanche Sin Bin, Lehkonen will likely play on Thursday against the Jets to see if he is ready for playoff hockey/ Josh Manson Manson has been out for over a month now with a lower-body injury. Gabriel Landeskog could be shut down for the season

Image
Not the news Colorado Avalanche fans wanted to hear. Colorado Avalanche   captain Gabriel Landeskog continues to skate as he continues to rehabilitate his knee following surgery last October. However, he may not skate in any games this season.  The Avalanche Sin Bin reported on Tuesday that Landeskog had some appointments this week to check on his progress. Moreover, it could be "if" he can play rather than when" he can play. This is sad news for Avs fans, but also not surprising. Elliotte Friedman said Landeskog would miss the rest of the regular season, while there was hope the longtime captain would be ready to return during the playoffs.  Now with this confirmed report, Landeskog's long road to recovery may have been a giant waste of time. However, the Avalanche have performed well in his absence, in a season that has seen the defending Stanley Cup champions plagued by injuries. Now, with this new report, Landeskog may just be out the whole year and not see a si...

The Game Ben Meyers was credited with the first goal of the game after the Oilers defense swatted the puck past their own netminder at 4:52. 14 seconds later, the Oilers took the puck the other way and Mattias Ekholm fired a shot past Alexandar Georgiev. At the end of the first, the score was tied 1-1. The Avalanche played terrific defensive hockey in this game and were able to hold superstar Connor McDavid to just one assist, but their offense wasn't able to get anything by Stuart Skinner. In the extra period, Even Bouchard converted on a 4-on-3 power play to give the Oilers the win. Takeaways Any Mix it up better. The Avalanche were playing too long pinned down in their own zone and it bit them in the end. Understandably, it's difficult because the Avs are dealing with a lot of injuries and they're missing Cale Makar, but you have to get your offense moving a...

Ben Meyers scored first blood at 3:30 with a great deflection on an Erik Johnson shot that flew over the shoulder of Wild netminder  Filip Gustavsson. Reminiscent of the game against the Calgary Flames, the opening lead was short-lived for the defending Stanley Cup champions, as Kirill Kaprizov scored just 44 seconds later on a delayed penalty. Before the end of the frame, Sam Girard pounded one into the net at 15:08. Despite a topsy-turvy start, the Avalanche held a 2-1 lead after the first period. In the second period the Avalanche took firm control of the puck, but the two squads still found themselves in a net derby. Joel Eriksson Ek tied the game up on the power play at 6:09.
