Golden Knights trounce Avalanche 7-1 to secure first preseason victory

The Vegas Golden Knights whipped the reigning Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche 7-1 during Wednesday night's preseason game at T-Mobile Arena.

Vegas scored seven times with seven different players to put the icing on the cake. It is just a preseason game. However, this was also an opportunity for many players to prove they have what it takes to make the full-time roster.

Unfortunately, it just wasn't a very good showing.

WHAT HAPPENED
William Karlsson lit the lamp just 53 seconds into the game as he knocked in a shot by Alexandar Georgiev. Midway through the frame, Gage Quinney capitalized on a bad turnover to make it 2-0.

TOTAL CONTROL

The Avalanche were practically non-existent in the second period. Michael Amadio, Paul Cotter, Keegan Kolesar, and Kaedan Korczak all scored for Vegas to make it a 6-0 game. Alex Beaucage finally gave Avs fans something to cheer about with a goal to avoid the shutout. However, Chandler Stephenson added an insurance marker to give the Golden Knights a 7-1 win.

STARS OF THE GAME
Zach Whitecloud: Had four assists for the Golden Knights

NEXT GAME:
